How to Correctly Remove Snow from your Car?

This year has been filled with lots of the white stuff. And unless you are one of the lucky ones that have underground parking, or you keep your garage clean enough that you can actually keep your car in it, you are likely brushing snow off your car every morning, and sometimes more than once a day.

A snow brush can be brutal to your car’s paint job. You must already be aware of this, since most car washes these days are touchless and advertise this to get your business. So why haven’t they invented a touchless snow brush? The fact of the matter is that it’s difficult to remove a couple of inches of snow from your car without touching it. So what are snow removal best practices?

Try to shut your heat off 5-10 minutes before you arrive home. A warm car means any snow that hits that windshield after you park will turn to ice by the time you use car next.

Don’t actually touch your cars paint. Try to leave a tiny bit of snow of on the surface so that that you know that you aren’t making contact with the paint.

Invest in a soft brush, or what the car dealers use - a snopro. These cool gadgets use only foam and promise to cause less damage then bristles brushes that a) hold dirt and b) easily scratch the car with the dirt and salt that they are brushing along with the snow.

Ideally, only scrape and brush the snow on your glass surfaces. Glass doesn’t scratch as easy as paint does, so you don’t have to be as worried. After all, it’s the visibility that is the reason for the snow removal.

Give your car a nice wax in the fall. A waxed car will allow for easier snow removal in the winter than a dirty car. And if you have a crazy sound system in your car, then maybe you can do what this guy does —> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_167-Y88Lk

Following these tips should keep your car free of snow, but most importantly free of any scratches in the spring. Protect your car, and your car will take care of you.
