Don’t let the Gas Prices Fool You

The gas prices have dropped significantly over the last couple of months and many people are beginning to ditch some of their efficient driving habits, and some people are doing even worse - they’re ditching their buying habits.

Gas prices might be low right now, but who knows where they are going to go in the future. Out of nowhere the price dropped suddenly, so why wouldn’t it be able to jump up suddenly. A lot of places like Canada have invested big money into refining oil from places typically less economical, such as the oil sands. If prices stay where they are at, then these refineries are making significantly less profit on the refinement.

And have you seen the price of the diesel? It’s ridiculously high when compared to gasoline, but does that mean that you shouldn’t buy a diesel? No, diesel has and always will be a more efficient vehicle. And the price may not be as appealing as gasoline is right now, but it’s consistent and fluctuates less than gas does.

What about electric cars? Is this it for Tesla? Absolutely no! This might be a scheme to get diesel and electric cars into less production, hence securing the gasoline demand for years to come, but it’s only short term thinking.

What we are trying to say here is that just because the pump prices are low now, don’t let it change your thinking! Don’t ditch the idea of buying a Tesla and opt for the new Dodge Ram, that’d be crazy talk! And if you were looking at a diesel before, don’t let today’s prices fool you. Stay on track with everything you have learned from your past and from history and from what we have shared with you. And this doesn’t mean that you can idle all that you want either. It just means you get save a little money this month, maybe this quarter, maybe even this year. We’ll see. Just don’t get too excited buy it. Take a look at the graph above and you will soon realize that this has happened before and it will happen again. In fact, looking at the graph we also realized that the big market crash happened right around the same time gas prices dropped like this at the end of 2008. So, let’s hope that doesn’t happen again this month.

In the mean time, if you want to come by and meet the team, you are always welcome to stop by. As always drive safe and we look forward to working your vehicle the next time that you are looking for an alternative to the dealer service shops.
